Lagnam Matrimony ("we", "our", "us") is operated by Smartspacetechnologies. We are committed to protecting your privacy and personal information. This policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Personal Information
When you register and use Lagnam, we collect:
- Account details: Name, email address, phone number, date of birth, gender
- Profile information: Religion, caste, community, education, occupation, income, height, marital status, family details
- Photos: Profile pictures and additional photos you upload
- Preferences: Partner preferences including age range, location, education, and other criteria
- Location: City, state (only when you provide it for profile matching)
1.2 Automatically Collected Information
- Device information (device type, operating system)
- App usage data (features used, session duration)
- IP address
1.3 Payment Information
When you purchase wallet credits or premium features, payment processing is handled by secure third-party payment gateways (e.g., Razorpay). We do not store your credit/debit card numbers or UPI PINs on our servers.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your matrimony profile
- To match you with compatible profiles using our matching algorithm
- To facilitate connections and communication between matched users
- To process payments for premium features and wallet top-ups
- To send important notifications about your account and matches
- To improve our app and services
- To prevent fraud and ensure user safety
3. How We Store and Protect Your Data
- All data is stored on secure cloud servers (MongoDB Atlas) with encryption
- Photos are stored on Cloudinary with secure access controls
- Passwords are hashed using bcrypt (we never store plain text passwords)
- All API communications use JWT token-based authentication
- HTTPS encryption is used for all data transmission
4. Data Sharing
We do NOT sell your personal information. We share data only in these cases:
- With other users: Your profile information is visible to other registered users based on your privacy settings
- Privacy controls: You can control visibility of your profile, photos, contact info, and online status in Settings → Privacy
- Legal requirements: When required by Indian law or government authorities
- Service providers: Cloud hosting (MongoDB Atlas), image storage (Cloudinary), and payment processing — only the minimum data they need to operate
5. Your Privacy Controls
Within the app, you can:
- Toggle profile visibility on/off
- Control photo visibility
- Hide/show contact information
- Control online status visibility
- Enable/disable receiving interest requests
- Block and unblock specific users
6. Account Deletion
You have the right to delete your account at any time. Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account. When you delete your account:
- Your profile and personal data will be permanently removed
- Your photos will be deleted from our storage
- Your connection history will be removed
- This action is irreversible
7. Data Retention
We retain your data only as long as your account is active. After account deletion, all personal data is permanently removed within 30 days. Anonymized usage statistics may be retained for analytics purposes.
8. Child Safety Standards
Lagnam Matrimony is intended exclusively for users aged 18 years and above. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE) on our platform.
8.1 Age Requirement
Users must be at least 18 years of age to create an account and use Lagnam. We verify age during registration and will immediately terminate any account found to belong to a minor.
8.2 Prohibition of CSAE Content
We strictly prohibit any content that depicts, promotes, or facilitates child sexual abuse and exploitation (CSAE), including but not limited to:
- Child sexual abuse material (CSAM) of any kind
- Content that sexualizes minors
- Grooming or solicitation of minors
- Any communication intended to exploit or harm children
8.3 Reporting Mechanism
Users can report child safety concerns through:
- In-app reporting: Use the "Report" button available on every user profile to flag suspicious content or behavior

8.4 Our Response
When we receive a child safety report, we will:
- Immediately review and investigate the report
- Remove any offending content and suspend the reported account
- Report confirmed CSAM to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and relevant Indian authorities including the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR)
- Cooperate fully with law enforcement investigations
- Preserve relevant evidence as required by law
8.5 Moderation and Prevention
- All uploaded photos and content are reviewed for policy compliance
- Accounts found to violate child safety policies are permanently banned
- We maintain records of actions taken on child safety reports
8.6 Legal Compliance
We comply with all applicable child safety laws and regulations, including:
- Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO), 2012 — India
- Information Technology Act, 2000 — India
- All relevant state, national, and international child protection laws

9. Cookies and Tracking
Our mobile app does not use cookies. We use AsyncStorage on your device to maintain your login session. No third-party tracking or advertising SDKs are used.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
11. Applicable Law
This policy is governed by the laws of India, including the Information Technology Act, 2000, and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDPA).
